Problem:
In the current setup, creating custom dashboards for customers required substantial manual effort, leading to delays in delivering value and significantly increasing operational costs. The process consumed manpower and resources, resulting in a yearly expenditure of €2.4 million for dashboard creation. Additionally, the delays in delivering insights negatively impacted customer satisfaction and onboarding experience.
MVP Stage:
The initial Minimum Viable Product (MVP) was focused on creating reusable templates to reduce time spent on manually generating custom dashboards. While templates addressed some concerns, they introduced new challenges related to replication, server space, and process usage. These factors hindered the scalability of the solution.
Solution Iteration:
To refine the solution, we analysed customer interactions with existing dashboards and widgets. Leveraging insights from usage patterns, we transitioned from templates to ready-made, pre-configured dashboards tailored to specific business needs. These dashboards were designed to deliver key insights instantly, eliminating the need for custom dashboard creation for most users.
Results:
- A 90% reduction in customer requests for custom dashboards.
- Customers could now access the most important insights within hours of signing up, significantly improving time-to-value.
- A dramatic reduction in reliance on custom templates, leading to lower operational costs and improved efficiency.
My Role as Product Manager:
- I spearheaded the data collection process, gathering insights on customer behaviour and usage of dashboards and widgets.
- I validated ideas and solutions by collaborating closely with stakeholders and key priority customers, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- I coordinated efforts across multiple tech teams, aligning development, design, and operations to deliver a cohesive solution.
- My leadership ensured the smooth execution of this initiative, resulting in reduced costs and a much faster delivery of insights to end-users.
